To me its chic! In the photos, when taken out of the box and installed it read chic and sophisticated. My ceiling has a bit of a slant - which has proven to be tricky installing pendant lights in the past. Not so with the [Dalena] 1 cone pendant. As it is located in a high traffic area and there are several tall people that regularly traverse the area, I opted to not use the included brushed nickel rods. I tried the shorter one but it was still just a bit too long. I think with a higher ceiling I would have used the rods for sure, but it works so smartly without using the rods. The four-light shade pendant by Chapman and Myers was inspired by a vintage mid-century French sconce with a simple metal armature. The minimal cruciform structure of the metal frame is the main feature of the design. The frame outlines and supports the inner cylindrical shade. This fixture is as handsome as it is unusual. The light source is completely encased in a fine linen shade, then engage the cone in a metal frame, attached with a question-mark hanger loop. A pleasing conical finial of metal extends from the base, finishing the piece off.

Unfortunately, this chandelier was not as expected. The shades are not a solid black as the picture shows, so it gives the appearance of linen when light is turned on.
