These plates are so beautiful. We already had the Italian teapot, and fell in love with it. The pot inspired this order. The plates are just the right size, and lighter weight than the plates they replace. I would love to go "full Spode Blue Italian" for my dining room, so will likely order more items. Spode's Italian pattern has been in continuous production now for 210 years. It shouldn't work: a Kakiemon Japanese border married to an Italian caprice, but it does and continues to delight. It has changed in many ways through the years, and some of the current changes...thicker, less white body...too much consistency in the engravings...disappoint me, but the sturdier ware has it's advantages, too, for modern needs such as microwaving and the dishwasher.
