8.5 height is perfect for our 9 foot ceilings. Just put it up. Used gloves to fluff and took some time, but expected with fake trees. We need to arrange the lights a little more but happy with the purchase. I understand someone said that it's low to the ground, which it is, but this doesn't really bother me.
