This sturdy handmade area rug stands up to everyday foot traffic while giving you and your family some cozy padding to sink your feet into. It's hand-knotted from wool and cotton backing with a low 0.25" pile for a just-right balance of sturdiness and softness. It has a traditional Oushak-style pattern (in the size of your choice) for some old-world charm that's sure to fit right in with your coastal farmhouse. Looks aside, this wool-blend rug has fringed edges that are kind on your floors and help hold it in place, but we still recommend putting a rug pad underneath. When it comes to upkeep, it's easy to spot clean (because we know spills happen).

Hand-knotted in India, these incredible rugs are made from a blend of fine Bikaner Chokla Indian wool and Sardinian wool that is sourced from the Island in the Mediterranean sea. The yarn is mill spun and woven on a traditionally vertical wooden loom. Each knot is hand woven individually as in the ancient Persian knot technique. On average, a weaver can weave about 4” length of the rug, covering a width of about two and a half to three feet, in an eight-hour work day. Four weavers will take about six weeks to weave one 9’x12’ rug. Each rug is given three rounds of rigorous wash. Before each wash, the back of the rugs is mildly burnt with hand-held flame-emitting stoves. The rugs are carefully hand-knotted, to create a low, soft, and dense pile underfoot. The weaving of these rugs is done in the villages around Varanasi, India - a city which has been continuously habited for at least 4,000 years, thus making it the oldest surviving city in the world. The history of the city spans over 10,000 years.

This handmade area rug has a dark blue and beige Oriental-style pattern that invites a little warmth and a focal point to any living room or entryway. It's hand-knotted from family-friendly 100% wool, so it's sure to stand up to the occasional spill or dropped bowl, plus its vintage-inspired floral motif acts as the perfect camouflage. It has a low 0.25" pile that's just right for rolling out in high-traffic living rooms or dining spaces prone to occasional spills (like under the kitchen table) since it's easy to clean and doesn't interrupt swinging doors. Our favorite feature of all? This rug comes in the size of your choice, so you can choose which one works best for your home. Just keep in mind that even though this rug has a sturdy looped texture, it performs best when paired with a rug pad to prevent shifting and sliding underfoot, especially if you have little ones and fur babies on the loose.

Nice rug, not as dark blue as I had imagined, but looks great! Very happy with it.. Melissa. Cody, WY. Wed Oct 20 2021
