This version is printed - no pile, immediately lies flat. Perfect, and hoping our dog does not take this one apart like she does with carpets that have a looped pile. The finish on the carpet edges is a gray color, but the actual color palate includes beige with the gray and marine blue colors. My tile floors are beige and the gray still works fine with it. The rug is gorgeous. The colors are great and the pile height is lovely. I have a thick pad underneath for extra coziness. I highly recommend. To note, the rug appears to be on sale a lot, so I suggest watching and waiting for the best price. I bought it on sale and then looked at rug on the website again, the day it was delivered. The same rug / size / color was offered on sale for an additional $300 less! I was very sad and frustrated when I contacted customer service to learn that Birch Lane does not price match (like many other companies do for an item that goes on sale within 7 - 14 days of your purchase). The runner is pretty and very soft to walk on, especially since I go barefoot in the house. It does, however shed terribly. I am surprised that no other reviews mentioned it because it is very, very annoying. I could vacuum every day and still there are fibers everywhere. I am hoping as it ages the problem will subside..
