In the early 1920s, exposed-bulb light fixtures were jettisoned in favor of opaque glass globes that disguised the light source. These pieces found popularity predominantly in schoolhouses, giving this style its name. Here, we start with a classic schoolhouse glass shape and take it up a notch with lovely fluting that beautifully diffuses the light. The uncomplicated metalwork and the iconic glass shape call to mind a time when the world seemed a simpler place.

Perfect light fixture to blend historic and modern in a bathroom in a 100+ year old home. Stylish and classic!. Stacy. Washington, Dc. Sun Jun 18 2023

This 3-light pendant brings clean styling and ambient illumination directly to your space. Crafted from steel, the open-frame design features a minimalist silhouette that lets light flow freely. Inside, a trio of candle-style sockets holds bulbs to create a warm, inviting glow. It's a great match for hanging above a kitchen island or a dining table top to complete the look. The hardwired fixture is designed for dry locations, making it a reliable addition to your home. We also love how the adjustable chain lets you customize the hanging height to fit your ceiling.

This worked perfect. It matches the warm brass pendants I also purchased from birch lane. The color is lovely. Not 80’s/90’s gold but a lovely warm gold. It has a modern farm house feel without being too farmhouse. Michele. Wayne, PA. Sun Dec 24 2023

This 1-light schoolhouse pendant has an adjustable height, so you can make sure you get just the right illumination over your dining room table or in your entryway. It's also compatible with a dimmer switch for adjustable ambiance. This pendant features a clear glass schoolhouse shade for a farmhouse look, and is suspended from a slim downrod and caged finial for a simple look. This fixture takes a single 60W bulb, which is sold separately – we recommend picking up an Edison bulb for just the right pop of retro flair.

These could not be more perfect. I have been searching for pendants for above our island for over 9 months. We had three, tiny, builder-grade pendants in this space before and they did nothing for our kitchen. I wanted to be sure the size of whatever we bought would look appropriate with our tall ceilings and open floor plan. These do such a wonderful job of filling the space without looking crowded. We have a lot of black in our house (curtain rods, dining room chairs, etc) and although these are technically a dark, dark brown, they still look great. I don't foresee wanting to paint them or anything. Clean out the glass and consider using gloves when you're installing to avoid dust and fingerprints inside the pendants. Other than that, enjoy. They're fantastic. :). Hannah. Denton, TX. Wed Oct 26 2022

Embodying true minimalist form, the Anna May Island brings sleek, simplified style in a linear pendant chandelier. The finish enhances the classic look of the white fabric shades to deliver a sophisticated, less-is-more design.

Very happy with our Anna May light fixture we purchased from Birch Lane! It was just what we were looking for—a simple but elegant design that tied in perfectly over our kitchen island. The brass color ended up being the perfect match to my faucet and cabinet handles. Installation was fairly straightforward for my husband. The only slight issue was getting the length just right but he did it. Highly recommend!. Alisa. Culpeper, VA. Thu Apr 16 2026
