In the early 1920s, exposed-bulb light fixtures were jettisoned in favor of opaque glass globes that disguised the light source. These pieces found popularity predominantly in schoolhouses, giving this style its name. Here, we start with a classic schoolhouse glass shape and take it up a notch with lovely fluting that beautifully diffuses the light. The uncomplicated metalwork and the iconic glass shape call to mind a time when the world seemed a simpler place.

I purchased this pendant in black to replace a flourescent style fixture above the kitchen sink. I am extremely pleased as this fixture is exactly what I had anticipated except the shade is much more substantial and not cheap or too small-looking. It has great proportion and looks very stylish. I am so glad I was able to update my lighting to such a look so easily and efficiently as I did and am very pleased with the quality of my new fixtures. Shipping was so very quick and my electrician had no difficulty with installation or with the fixtures themselves that he mentioned. Thank you for giving my kitchen such a great look.. Anonymous. This pendant features a clear glass schoolhouse shade for a farmhouse look, and is suspended from a slim downrod and caged finial for a simple look. This fixture takes a single 60W bulb, which is sold separately – we recommend picking up an Edison bulb for just the right pop of retro flair.

These could not be more perfect. I have been searching for pendants for above our island for over 9 months. We had three, tiny, builder-grade pendants in this space before and they did nothing for our kitchen. I wanted to be sure the size of whatever we bought would look appropriate with our tall ceilings and open floor plan. These do such a wonderful job of filling the space without looking crowded. We have a lot of black in our house (curtain rods, dining room chairs, etc) and although these are technically a dark, dark brown, they still look great. I don't foresee wanting to paint them or anything. Clean out the glass and consider using gloves when you're installing to avoid dust and fingerprints inside the pendants. Other than that, enjoy. They're fantastic. :). Hannah. Denton, TX. Wed Oct 26 2022
