I purchased this pendant in black to replace a flourescent style fixture above the kitchen sink. I am extremely pleased as this fixture is exactly what I had anticipated except the shade is much more substantial and not cheap or too small-looking. It has great proportion and looks very stylish. I am so glad I was able to update my lighting to such a look so easily and efficiently as I did and am very pleased with the quality of my new fixtures. To me its chic! In the photos, when taken out of the box and installed it read chic and sophisticated. My ceiling has a bit of a slant - which has proven to be tricky installing pendant lights in the past. Not so with the [Dalena] 1 cone pendant. As it is located in a high traffic area and there are several tall people that regularly traverse the area, I opted to not use the included brushed nickel rods. I tried the shorter one but it was still just a bit too long. I think with a higher ceiling I would have used the rods for sure, but it works so smartly without using the rods. Substantial pendant light with lots of drama. Very pleased with my purchase. The glass is not a solid color, but a bit of a subtle swirl of white that doesn't come across in the photo's. There are a few flaws in the glass so pinpricks of brighter light show through here and there, almost like imperfections. Just be prepared for it.
