My 3-year-old Visual Comfort pendants broke and couldn’t be repaired. Because Visual Comfort no longer made them in chrome, I was forced to choose a different finish—which didn’t match the other two pendants over my island. Visual Comfort's lack of support and poor business etiquette was frustrating, but in the end it worked to my advantage. This is a pretty light fixture (mine is a satin black) but complicated to put together a bit. That’s okay really but it’s just not an “unbox and hang” kind of fixture and because it’s large, and extra set of hands is nice. That said, it is unique and can lend to a variety of home styles. Keep in mind your bulbs are bare, candelabra base with no shade. You’ll want to choose a decorative bulb (more expensive) that is warmer so that it’s not blinding. That means this fixture should be more of an accent than primary lighting since that will look too harsh and have too many shadows. It’s lightweight which makes hanging easier.. Taral. Eureka, IL. Farmhouse kitchen remodel and this is perfect. Over 7’ peninsula. The option to mount on a slanted ceiling was a must for me which is achieved by adding in one or more chain links (included in the box). So if you need to do that, it will sway with wind or by touch which I don't love but it is what it is.
