Mackinaw Table Lamp

I bought this lamp about 5 years ago. I loved it, that is until the "mercury" pieces started falling off the glass and onto the bottom of the base. There are now gaps all around the glass base where there were once glittery metal pieces adhered to the glass. Mercury glass is made by fusing two pieces of glass with small pieces of metal (at one time the pieces/shards were mercury) to give it a sparkly sheen. Although this is described as the base being mercury glass, it cannot be, or the pieces would not fallen to the bottom. I really loved the look of the lamp, and I am so disappointed. I expected it to last much longer than five years. The lighter area on the glass are where the metal was affixed. It appears that that is glue.

This lamp is gorgeous! It’s very substantial & looks great in my living room. Two in the bedroom would be spectacular. Or on a table in the foyer. You won’t be disappointed.
