ZWILLING Italian Slanted Magnetic Knife Block

Poorly designed and grossly overpriced for what it is. At this price, one would expect perfect craftsmanship. Instead, the block is rather crudely put together and its corners are sharper than a conscientious craftsperson would be happy with. Furthermore, the knife-holding magnets -- concealed under the visible wood surface -- do not cover much area of each slot. Consequently, the capacity of this large knife block is much less than it would have more efficiently been, had the designer properly maximized the materials that are already there. My wife understandably objects to both the height and areal size of the block. Overall from my perspective, having lived in Italy as a child, I consider this knife block to be a rare embarrassment to Italian design and craftspeople.

Excellent, great quality, magnets really hold all the knives, even the larger chef knives.

I needed knife storage that was not vertical to fit under my cabinets. This block did the trick. One magnet has come loose, but it still holds knives. Also, beware that it does take up quite a bit of space on the counter.

Not only is it really cool and modern aesthetically, it is very functional. The magnets are strong, but not too strong - you just need to lift upward and the magnet releases. Big fan.
