There's nothing like the smell and taste of freshly ground spices. And with the Cuisinart spice & nut grinder, it's easier than ever to efficiently grind any spice or create original, tantalizing spice blends. The blades are exclusively designed to grind spices and nuts, and the simple press-down lid starts the grinding process with one touch, sealing in all the finely ground spices.

Seems to be well made. Should do the job. Instructions should mention that the black base unscrews from the stainless steel part. Joe J.. Joseph. Eldorado Springs, CO. Sun Jul 11 2021

Mortars have been used around the world for centuries, from Asia and Europe to the earliest populations of north and south America. The friction of the mortar's rough ceramic interior against the grinding action of the pestle releases the full flavor of herbs and spices, while also changing the texture and consistency of pesto and other dishes. The stoneware mortar & pestle is inspired by this age-old technique of careful preparation, with an unglazed interior that is abrasive enough to effectively break down contents, yet durable enough to withstand the friction of repeated grinding.
