Spode Blue Italian Salad Plate (Set of 4)

Spode's Italian pattern has been in continuous production now for 210 years. It shouldn't work: a Kakiemon Japanese border married to an Italian caprice, but it does and continues to delight. It has changed in many ways through the years, and some of the current changes...thicker, less white body...too much consistency in the engravings...disappoint me, but the sturdier ware has it's advantages, too, for modern needs such as microwaving and the dishwasher. The new stuff marries well with my old Spode. I still love it.

I love this pattern but was disappointed with the quality. The plates appear to be seconds. Boxes weren’t marked as such so not sure if Spode quality had diminished or if Birch Lane just passed off seconds as first quality. Price was good though so I’ll keep them.
