Its more of a jute than a soft rag-rug type. The channels are sturdy, which I like. (feels like a foot massage, lol) I put a cushy felt pad underneath to give it a little more oomph. It was a little stinky on arrival, as many manufactured products wrapped in plastic are, so I put a fan on it for a bit and let it air out-no big deal at all. I love this rug so much! First off, I love the yellow and the golden colors that complement each other! I'm so glad I ordered this rug in this color. I live by the beach and it gives me that beach feeling in my home. The quality of this rug and the price don't even match! The quality is perfection and you definitely get what you pay for.
