We ordered five of these stools. One came damaged and Birch Lane sent a new one. The cushions are a bit hard but expect will soften over time. The wood is a dark walnut stain which is what we wanted. The upholstery is beige with dark gray "flecks". The nylon protectors on the bottom of the legs really grab on our wood floor and make it difficult to move the stools. The wheat sheaf chairs have rounded spindle backs that are gathered with crossbars in the center to look like bundles of wheat, giving them an heirloom feel. All this dining furniture is crafted from solid wood and veneers in a warm, natural oak finish.
