The build quality is also consistent with the pricing - no cheap hardware or particle board. Some car will be needed in maintaining the top, but I'll be following the instructions - and there will be no food or drinks on it anyway. I am mostly pleased with these, considering the price. They arrived in perfect condition and look exactly as pictured. They blend well with the other wood colors and style in my living room. However I had hoped the wood would look more like real oak. The white glaze is much heavier than you can see on the photo, and it still retains a very strong smell. The white glaze is overdone, in my opinion, and makes the piece look like really fake wood, which I guess it is. I kind of wished I had ordered the very similar bookshelves without a back (made by a different manufacturer) because it doesnt say it has the glaze and also says it is made of oak and rubber wood. But those were each 100 more so I went with these.Whereas these are mostly engineered wood I believe. Once the smell wears away, Im sure Ill be happier with them.. Carol. Longboat Key, FL. This is a very well made piece. I was nervous about buying the bleached birch color as I didn’t see any review photos of it, but it’s lovely. Reminiscent of antique pine. No shiny finish. It’s excellent. It doesn’t look its best with my current wall color in photo, but don’t worry - I’m painting soon! Beautiful cabinet. Well made, packaged wonderfully & no damage. Sturdy & pretty! I took a star away because FedEx delivered my cabinet to the wrong address!!! Again!!! Don’t know why any vendor would use FedEX! They’re God awful. You can never reach anyone & when you finally do they are outside of our country & completely unable to help. They read from a scrip. So frustrating! The cabinet weighs 80 pounds so I had to hire a handyman to bring it to my house. $75 dollars later I ended up canceling a pretty dresser I ordered because I don’t trust FedEx to deliver to my house.
