The desk also has a built in power supply for 2 electrical sockets and 2 USB ports. I wasn't sure what to expect since there were so few pictures posted but I am VERY happy with the desk. It came extremely well packaged and the only assembly necessary was attaching the 8 little legs. Loved finding bookcases this tall (94”) and wide (40”) and was able to make my office/studio wall look like a built-in. Lucky to find wood finish close to other elements we were using. While we don’t really need the ladder function, the rod detail makes the unit look unique and we didn’t purchase a ladder. I love this cabinet! I have been waiting for months. I'm deducting a star because 1) shipping took several months, 2) the wood is slightly scratched where the cabinet doors slide, and 3) the top of hte cabinet is a slightly different color/tone than the bottom. This is easily my favorite purchase from Birch Lane. It’s expensive, but after seeing it in person, I think it’s worth every penny. This is the kind of substantial, beautiful piece of furniture that you keep for years and eventually pass down. I currently use mine in the kitchen for additional storage, and it’s incredibly spacious. It holds a surprising amount while still looking like a beautiful piece of furniture rather than just a storage cabinet. The quality and craftsmanship are excellent, and it has so much character.
