Spode's Italian pattern has been in continuous production now for 210 years. It shouldn't work: a Kakiemon Japanese border married to an Italian caprice, but it does and continues to delight. It has changed in many ways through the years, and some of the current changes...thicker, less white body...too much consistency in the engravings...disappoint me, but the sturdier ware has it's advantages, too, for modern needs such as microwaving and the dishwasher. I love these plates! I was worried that they would be too minty green. To me they are more pale blue than green which is what I was going for. The reviews mentioned that they are all different shapes. This is true. They have the look of being hand thrown by a clay artist. And they stack tall.
