Some car will be needed in maintaining the top, but I'll be following the instructions - and there will be no food or drinks on it anyway. But we had a great experience from ordering to delivery and it was seamless, the piece is beautiful, whole, undamaged, and fits perfectly. The stand is exactly what I was looking for to go with my Natural wood floors. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the two swinging doors are hard to open after I put my Center Speaker on the top of the unit. This is causing the wood to bend slightly and the doors are harder to open. I took off the back of the unit to provide more air flow for my receiver that sits underneath and in the middle. This piece of furniture is so beautiful with a lot of elegance. It makes my living room look so elegant. It has a lot of space inside and the doors are sturdy. This sideboard is really nice, heavy and solid! The doors on the left were crooked but fixed fairly easy. The grain shows more than the photo but is a really great piece for extra storage.
