All of the kitchenware china I have purchased in the past 40 years is microwaveable and dishwasher safe and have some Spode place settings from many decades ago that easy to take care of. Usually the small areas of gold are put on in a way that can withstand the microwave and dishwasher detergent. These say hand wash only and not microwaveable. They show as cereal bowls on the box, which is evidently the only dining they are usable for.
