These chairs are beautiful. They feel very sturdy and are surprisingly comfortable, given they don’t have a cushion. I was sad I had to return them. We ordered five of these stools. One came damaged and Birch Lane sent a new one. The cushions are a bit hard but expect will soften over time. The wood is a dark walnut stain which is what we wanted. The upholstery is beige with dark gray "flecks". The nylon protectors on the bottom of the legs really grab on our wood floor and make it difficult to move the stools. The barstools were able to be put together with relative ease and speed. They seem pretty sturdy and are very comfortable. They look great at our kitchen island and complement our decor nicely. I have it in my kitchen for when I’m minding a dish for a long time or when someone wants to join me in the kitchen for a chat that’s not as far away as the dining room. It has a country vibe standing alone but depending on your decor this can become something contemporary or even industrial chic. So versatile, COMFORTABLE (totally the most important!) and very well-made. Solid wood makes this so sturdy and no creaking when sitting down. The stools look just as pictured. The style and color are great. They are comfortable and give good back support. Overall we are pleased and happy with our purchase. A minor issue is that there were some caps missing from the bottom of the stool legs on 3 out of 4 chairs.
