I am a bit torn about this bed, we bought it for our cottage and I had high hopes. I chose the Preppy blue and white stripe fabric which is really cute. The bed arrived in a decent amount of time and was well wrapped. We decided to assemble it ourselves and all was going well until we realized that the center support legs were 2 inches taller than the corner support legs. Halto, full stop! I reported the problem and explained that we needed expedited replacement parts since we donated our bed, but sadly the metal legs will arrive in 3 plus weeks!!? Why?? My husband was able to cut the legs with a metal saw so we have a temporary fix, but really!?! One thing to note is the upholstery seems a bit cheap, not very padded, and the side photo of the bed online does not accurately represent the actual bed. There is a gap between the side rail and the headboard and you can see the black metal bar. For the price it should have been padded. I am going to buy a 5 inch boxspring to raise the mattress and headboard. Unless you are a child or young teen I really think you need one. All in all the bed will be fine, but if I purchase another bed I will likely spend a bit more. A final note I went back to look at all of the reviews but noticed that they were a lot of 'incentivized reviews'. To end on a good note the customer service people at Birchlane and Wayfair are wonderful. If the bed had better upholstery work on the padding and framing it would have been a 5 star review.
I updated my review, and added a photo with the 5 inch boxspring platform that I bought to raise my 14.5 inch mattress. This definitely is necessary! Birchlane was very quick to send the correct 8 inch legs. In the end I would give the bed a 3.5 out of 5, only because I think the upholstery could be more robust.
