Bottle shapes work because the narrow neck does the arranging for you, holding a few stems upright instead of letting them slump. Glass keeps the whole thing light and unobtrusive, so it suits a crowded shelf as well as an empty one. Watertight, of course, which means fresh flowers are as easy as dried ones.
