This tighter Percale weave produces a more durable fabric that is superior to sateen weaves. Percale never pills and stays smooth. Though thread count is important, how the fabric is woven is more important when it comes to how the sheets feel. I like these sheets a lot. I was skeptical when they were delivered and when I opened them. They felt quite scratchy. I was washed them and that did help.
