Kingston's carrara marble tops are polished, but they are not sealed. Polished marble has a shiny surface and resists stains. Even when polished, natural stone is still somewhat porous and remains susceptible to etching by acidic compounds like fruit juice, vinegar, some cleaning solvents, etc. The marble can be sealed for customers who wish to protect their investment further. This sink is perfect in our 1918 home's powder room. We appreciate the reasonable price compared to what it would have cost to get a cabinet, countertop, and sink. The quality is good and our plumber had no issues installing it. However, note that standard pipes don't work; underneath we have to have a black pipe before you get to the prettier chrome pipes we envisioned.
