I paid $320 for professional assembly of this bed, and the service pro who assembled the bed did so according to the instructions. However both the main photo of the bed on the website, as well as the assembly instructions included in the box, which the service pro followed exactly, have the ladder in front of the book case. Upon climbing up to the top bunk myself (I am 125 pounds - capacity says 400 pounds) it felt very wobbly and I was concerned about safety.
I contacted the customer service team. First I was told that I would receive additional "support parts", but the following day I was contacted by someone in the "parts department" who told me that the instructions are "unclear" and that other customers experienced the same, and that the ladder should go on the opposite side from the bookcase, and that I need to "undo some steps and move the laddder".
The instructions are not unclear, they are incorrect. I also am not confident that I can properly take apart and reassemble accurately, which is why I paid Wayfair for a service pro the first time around. This is not just an annoyance, but a major safety concern about the stability of the top bunk. I am in the process of trying to return the entire bed.
